Job Description

KSM MANAGEMENT CONSULTANT, the largest HR firm in Zambia recently acquired GOZAMBIAJOBS.CO.ZM, becoming the largest recruitment platform in the country is now actively looking to recruit TRAINER FIRST AID for a Client in the Mining Industry.

DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES?

The will be responsible providing effective First Aid Training as well as other related duties including but not limited to; Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Induction training and other compliance and safety training programmes and to assist in ensuring efficient running of the compliance and safety training unit.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Design Training Interventions:

  • Formulates teaching outline and determines instructional methods
  • Develop relevant, value-adding training material in accordance with company Standards
  • Develop training curriculum for new and existing employees.
  • Analyse feedback and amend training programme as required
  • Design training manuals for internal documented procedures
  • Develops teaching aids, such as training handbooks, demonstration models, multimedia visual aids, computer tutorials, and reference works
  • All interventions to be aligned with e-learning/online initiatives
  • Ensuring training objectives are met

Facilitate Training Interventions:

  • Facilitates relevant training interventions
  • Facilitate the transfer of skills and knowledge
  • Accurately assess skills, abilities and knowledge to determine competence levels
  • Conducting training needs assessment
  • Moderate training interventions and assessments for formal programmes
  • Tests trainees to measure progress and to evaluate effectiveness of training.
  • Facilitate initial and renewal First Aid Training for qualifying employees
  • Monitor and report on training projects and the enhancement of training initiatives
  • Assist and prepare facilitators and assessors with all online related activities when developing programmes

Performs Tasks Associated with The Administrative and Reporting:

  • Scheduling training events in INX-InTuition
  • Manage both physical and electronic training records
  • Conduct theory and practical assessments in line with the assessment guideline.
  • Ensure issuance of relevant certifications
  • Conduct Planned Task Observations [PTOs]
  • Liaise of Chamber of Mines Doctor to arrange for practical examination for all First Aid candidates
  • Submit daily activity training report
  • Performing any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor

Job Specific Competencies

  • First Aid, Compliance & Safety Training
  • Provide theoretical and practical First Aid and Primary Health care lessons up to Gold Medal Certificate to equip employees with skills and knowledge required to handle the injured safely until more qualified help arrives.
  • Prepare and implement a First Aid Training programme to facilitate first aid training, examination and certification.
  • Coordinate the formation and preparation of the First Aid teams among employees of KML and business partners for inter departmental and inter mine First Aid competitions.
  • Maintain records of employees First Aid certificates / numbers and advise on expiry dates.
  • Control the purchase of First Aid training manuals, registers, exam cards, certificates and other supplies from the Chamber of Mines as well as other suppliers where need be.
  • Develop continuous improvement targets for the function and drive and measure achievement of these targets.
  • Ensure effective communication with First Aid and Chamber of Mines delegates prior to departure from site.
  • Regulatory Compliance
  • Responsible for ensuring all company First Aid Training Programmes are in compliance with the standards set by the Chamber of Mines of Zambia Council for First Aid and all other related regulatory requirements for First Aid in Zambia.
  • Ensure that all trainees have proper personal protective equipment before they can be allowed to participate in practical training programmes.
  • Verify and ensure that Company training programmes are up-to-date, in line with the law and that there are no legislative violations in all instructional training materials.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • At least 5 years experience as a First Aid Trainer or similar position (preferably in the Mining Industry)
  • Formal qualifications in learning and development e.g. Diploma or Certificate in Teaching Methodology or the ability to obtain.
  • Knowledge in health and safety and current trending in mining training
  • Knowledge with regards the legislation that govern mine safety as well as the Occupational Health and Safety Act of Zambia and other safety statutory provisions.
  • Knowledge of Chamber of Mines Council for First Aid Policies and Procedures
  • Knowledge of Chamber of Mines Council for First Aid Policies and Procedures
  • Conducting Training Needs Assessment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite
  • Communication skills with good command of the English language.

SALARY RANGE: K22,093 – K31,401.52 Gross Pay
